Crypto.com has secured a significant investment from Citadel Securities, one of the world's largest market makers. The $400 million deal values Crypto.com at $20 billion and marks the exchange's first institutional funding round in its 10-year history.
The funds raised will be used to develop trading in tokenized securities, derivatives, and other asset classes, according to Crypto.com co-founder and CEO Kris Marszalek. He believes cryptocurrencies are becoming core financial infrastructure and that the company is well-positioned to capitalize on a new wave of growth across all asset classes.
Citadel Securities President Jim Esposito emphasized that the investment reflects the rapid convergence of traditional financial markets with digital assets, which has the potential to further enhance market efficiency.
