A California-based cryptocurrency mogul has admitted to orchestrating an attempted abduction in Connecticut, linked to a $245 million Bitcoin heist.
The man, Adam Iza, also known as 'The Godfather', pleaded guilty to conspiracy to interfere with commerce by robbery. He was accused of hiring six men from Florida to kidnap the parents of one of the individuals involved in the heist, Veer Chetal.
The investigation revealed a complex web of crime involving Iza's associates, who targeted the family of Chetal in an attempt to get a piece of his stolen loot. The case highlights the growing trend of cryptocurrency theft spilling over into violence, as seen in this and other recent cases.
