Leveraged ETFs Represent Minuscule Fraction of Total Market
Leveraged exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have been receiving increased scrutiny in recent times, but their actual market impact may be overstated. According to Eric Balchunas, senior ETF analyst at Bloomberg Intelligence, leveraged ETFs represent only 1 percent of the total ETF market.
While they account for a significant portion of new ETF launches and media coverage, Balchunas points out that leveraged ETFs are not as dominant as their visibility would suggest. He notes that despite their increased presence in the news, they still make up a relatively small percentage of the overall market.
Balchunas has been covering shifts in the ETF market structure, including the end of Invesco's 27-year control over the Nasdaq index. He has also highlighted market skepticism in his analysis of Grantham’s past bitcoin predictions.
