DeFi Prioritizes Security Over Convenience Amidst Maturity

DeFi is shifting its focus from convenience to security as it matures, according to Andre Cronje (@AndreCronjeTech), a prominent figure in the industry. In an analogy that resonates with everyone, Cronje compared DeFi's evolution to the common practice of using passwords for online accounts.

Cronje pointed out that initially, people used simple passwords like '1-2-3' that were easy to remember but also easily hackable. However, as a result of this vulnerability, the industry collectively agreed to use more complex passwords with at least eight characters, including symbols and capitals. This trade-off between ease of use and security has become a standard in the online world.

Cronje believes that DeFi is following a similar path. As it grows, users are becoming increasingly willing to accept minor user experience (UX) drawbacks in exchange for enhanced security. He views this as a natural progression towards maturity.
