MAGA Megadonors Flood Republican War Chest Ahead of Midterm Elections
With just four months until the 2026 midterm elections, a new tool launched by the Washington Post has revealed a stunning trend in campaign donations. The top 9 out of 10 megadonors are directly linked to the MAGA movement and have out-fundraised Democrats by a wide margin.
The total amount donated by the top 50 individual donors stands at $1.37 billion, with $294 million going to Democratic candidates and a whopping $875 million into Republican coffers. This influx of cash could prove crucial for the GOP's chances of maintaining control of Congress in November.
Among the top individual donors are billionaires Elon Musk, who has contributed significantly to MAGA Inc and a pro-cryptocurrency Super PAC called Fairshake, as well as financiers Jeff and Janine Yass, Miriam Adelson, shipping magnates Elizabeth and Richard Uihlein, OpenAI co-founder Greg Brockman and his spouse Anna, hedge fund manager Paul Singer, and cryptocurrency investing brothers Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss.
The top 10 organizational donors also skew heavily towards Republican and MAGA groups, with six out of ten being directly linked to the Trump family's crypto business or other conservative causes. While Coinbase and Ripple Labs, which are among the top two organizational donors, are not technically political groups, they have primarily funded Republican candidates.
