Ripple Backs Machine-to-Machine Payments Standard, Integrates XRP Ledger and RLUSD
Ripple has moved to integrate its XRP Ledger and RLUSD with the x402 payment standard, enabling autonomous AI agents to make on-chain payments.
The x402 standard allows machines to pay for services without accounts or cards, using a stablecoin and cryptographic proof of payment.
Ripple's integration is notable because the company typically positions itself as a settlement network rather than a protocol adopter. However, this move aligns with Ripple's pattern of early adoption of standards in the payments space.
