Crypto Finance Shifts Towards Traditional, Predictable Returns

The crypto finance landscape is undergoing a significant transformation. Gone are the days of high-yield, unpredictable investments, as new tools emerge to provide stable and predictable returns. Aave Labs founder Stani Kulechov and Ethena CEO Guy Young spoke at the Digital Asset Summit (DAS) in New York, where they discussed this shift.

According to Young, traditional finance is 'slicing and dicing' risk into different formats, which is now being replicated in DeFi. The introduction of new tools has made it possible for users to lock in returns, even in a market known for big swings. This trend is expected to continue as more real-world assets move onchain through tokenization.

Kulechov noted that Aave's deep pools of capital are helping support this shift by providing liquidity for new products in DeFi. However, he also pointed out that much of the current yield still depends on trading and leverage, rather than traditional lending.
