BitForex Founder's Wallet Moves $394 Million Ethereum to Binance Exchange
A significant amount of Ethereum, valued at approximately $394 million, has been transferred from a wallet linked to BitForex founder Garrett Jin to the Binance exchange.
According to blockchain analysis firm Onchain Lens, the transaction involved 166,023 ETH. The wallet address in question is believed to belong to Jin, who is an early Bitcoin adopter and also founded BitForex, an exchange that collapsed amid allegations of fraud.
The large movement of funds has drawn attention from market observers, given Jin's history with BitForex. In 2023, the exchange abruptly halted withdrawals, leaving users unable to access their funds. Authorities have labeled the platform fraudulent and investigations are ongoing into the disappearance of hundreds of millions of dollars in customer assets.
The transfer raises concerns about potential market manipulation, as large movements of funds from wallets linked to controversial figures can create uncertainty in the market. The case also serves as a reminder of the ongoing challenges in the crypto space regarding transparency and accountability.
