Binance, the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange, is discontinuing its services in the European Union. The platform failed to obtain the necessary license in time and withdrew its application for an EU license in Greece.
The MiCA regulations governing crypto assets require crypto companies to obtain a license in an EU country by June 30 of this year. Many exchanges did not submit applications or received authorization, including Binance, which sent emails to French customers announcing the discontinuation of services as of July 1, 2026.
The exchange stated that some users may encounter issues before the deadline but emphasized that their assets are secure and technical support is available. Binance's application for a license in Greece faced resistance, and the company has been in talks with regulators in Ireland and Latvia without success.
