Google Warns of New Malware Targeting iPhones and Cryptocurrency Wallets
Google has issued a warning about a new malware that can compromise iPhones and steal sensitive data from cryptocurrency wallets.
The malware, identified as 'Coruna', is an iOS exploit kit that targets memory helper phrases retrieved from encrypted wallets. According to Google's Threat Intelligence Group (GTIG), the software has been spreading through fake Chinese financial websites, including sites mimicking cryptocurrency exchanges.
Researchers have found 23 vulnerabilities and five attack chains in the malware, which can extract sensitive data from cryptographic applications like Uniswap and MetaMask. When a user with a vulnerable iPhone visits one of these malicious sites, the attack code runs automatically.
Google strongly recommends that iPhone users update their devices to the latest iOS version as soon as possible to protect themselves against this threat.
