Bitcoin Surges Past $73,000 as Institutional Interest and Regulatory Clarity Drive Market Growth
The global cryptocurrency market cap has reached $2.51 trillion, with Bitcoin (BTC) leading the charge at approximately $73,010.
This significant milestone is a result of substantial institutional interest and regulatory clarity progress in the United States. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent recently urged Congress to pass the CLARITY Act, which aims to distinguish between digital commodities and securities.
The lack of a clear regulatory framework has hindered U.S. leadership, according to Bessent. This move would finally establish a 'trust layer' for big banks. Additionally, Bank of New York Mellon (BNY) has expanded its 'Crypto-to-Treasury' corridor, allowing crypto-native clients 24/7 access to U.S. Treasury bills.
