Blockchain Networks Face Post-Quantum Cryptography Risks as AI Threat Looms

Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko has expressed concerns about the long-term security of blockchain networks due to potential vulnerabilities in post-quantum cryptography (PQC) signature schemes.

In a recent statement, Yakovenko highlighted that AI could potentially break PQC signature schemes, and he emphasized the importance of understanding both mathematical and practical deployment vulnerabilities.

The lack of clarity around these vulnerabilities makes it challenging for blockchain networks to confidently transition to quantum-resistant cryptography. To mitigate this risk, Yakovenko proposed providing support for 2/3 multi-signature wallets and native support through Program Derived Addresses (PDAs) within transaction processors.
