Velaura AI, a US-based company, has undergone a significant transformation in its business focus. The rebranding effort marks a shift from bitcoin mining hardware to energy-efficient silicon for artificial intelligence infrastructure.

The move is driven by the increasing power constraints faced by next-generation data centers. Velaura's new technology, Titan Core, aims to address this challenge by reducing chip power consumption for AI accelerators by up to 50%.

According to the company, Titan Core targets matrix multiplication workloads and can deliver 2-4x improvements in energy efficiency at the circuit level. This could result in significant power savings per chip, potentially lowering electricity and cooling costs for hyperscale data centers by tens to hundreds of millions of dollars.

Velaura is already collaborating with several hyperscalers and chip partners to integrate the technology into next-generation AI accelerators at advanced semiconductor nodes, including 3nm and 2nm.
