DTCC Scandal: Viral Screenshot Fueled by AI-Generated Search Response
The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) has been at the center of speculation after a screenshot went viral suggesting it had listed XRP on its platform. However, researcher and XRPL validator Vet made it clear that this claim was based on an AI-generated search response.
Vet explained that the confusion stems from a search performed on the DTCC Learning Center website, which returned an AI-generated summary titled 'XRP Haircut and Classification'. This summary stated that XRP is classified as a cryptocurrency and described hypothetical margin haircuts based on trading conditions.
However, Vet noted that the cited source does not actually mention XRP. The generated response includes a disclaimer stating that 'Generated content may contain errors. Verify important information.'
Vet attributed this behavior to the enterprise search software used by the DTCC website, which is based on relevant searches. He explained that people in the XRP community had searched massively for XRP in the past weeks and days, prompting the AI to come up with an answer.
