Bitcoin and Ethereum Kick Off 'Green' July With Solid Gains

The start of July has been kind to Bitcoin and Ethereum investors as prices for both cryptocurrencies opened higher on Friday, July 3, 2026.

BTC-USD started the day at $61,492.99, up 2.5% from Thursday's opening price, and reached a high of $61,853.72 by 8:45 a.m. ET.

Ethereum (ETH-USD) also saw an increase in value, starting the day at $1,698.37, up 5.6% from Thursday's open, and rising to $1,731.87 as of 8:45 a.m. ET.

The price movements follow the release of June jobs data that missed expectations. Analysts had forecasted a gain of around 115,000 new jobs last month with an unemployment rate of 4.3% for the fourth consecutive month.

However, the economy added only 57,000 new jobs in June, and the unemployment rate dropped to 4.2%, reducing the likelihood that the Federal Reserve will raise interest rates following their upcoming meeting.
