Solana Poised to Surge Past Bitcoin Over Next Three Years
Solana has outperformed Bitcoin over the past three years and is expected to do so again, increasing by more than 250% while Bitcoin gained nearly 140%. This cryptocurrency has a higher growth potential due to its smaller size and faster adaptation. Solana's blockchain is already integrated with smart contracts, which are tiny pieces of code that enable developers to build programs. In contrast, Bitcoin relies on additional blockchains, known as Layer-2s, for this feature.
Mainstream integration has been a topic of discussion for years, but it's finally taking shape. Established financial institutions and payment providers are increasingly adopting blockchain technology, such as stablecoins, which rely on smart contracts. Solana is gaining ground with AI agents, autonomous programs that use artificial intelligence to make decisions. These agents can process millions of microtransactions per day, where Solana's super-low transaction fees give it an advantage.
Solana has more room to grow compared to Bitcoin, which is safer but also less adaptable. With a market cap that's 3% of Bitcoin's, Solana could seriously outperform the crypto king over the next three years. However, it's essential to consider the risks associated with smaller cryptocurrencies and their potential for unpredictable surges.
