Trump Seeks Senate Passage of Clarity Act Amid Wariness Over Crypto Industry

President Donald Trump called on the Senate to pass the Clarity Act 'in honor' of Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), a 'big supporter' of the cryptocurrency legislation. The bill aims to provide clarity and stability in the cryptocurrency industry, which Trump described as a 'major financial happening'. He warned against China's push for control over the industry.

Citing the late Senator's passion for ensuring American leadership in digital assets, Sen. Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.) endorsed Trump's call to pass the Clarity Act. However, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), a critic of the bill, accused the Senate of prioritizing legislation that could benefit the President's cryptocurrency businesses.

Warren pointed out 'significant flaws' in the bill's current draft and urged the Senate to include ethics guardrails to prevent the President, Vice President, senior administration officials, and their families from profiting off the industry. Trump's financial disclosures revealed he earned around $1.4 billion from cryptocurrency ventures.
