Senate Democrats Urge Probe of Trump-Linked Crypto Deal with UAE Investors
Senate Democrats are calling for an investigation into a $500 million investment deal involving World Liberty Financial, a crypto-linked company tied to former President Donald Trump. The lawmakers argue that Congress should examine whether this investment raised national security concerns or created conflicts of interest.
The Senate Democrats' letter, signed by Senators Elizabeth Warren, Richard Blumenthal, Gary Peters, Dick Durbin, and Ron Wyden, points out that the deal was made with an Abu Dhabi-linked investor who has ties to the UAE's national security apparatus. They are seeking 'immediate' hearings into the matter.
The lawmakers also express concerns about potential national security exposure tied to U.S., UAE technology and arms arrangements. They argue that Congress has a responsibility to investigate whether such foreign investments influence official decision-making.
