The use of artificial intelligence (AI) in cryptocurrency is having an unintended consequence: making security problems worse. According to Charles Guillemet, CTO of Ledger, AI-powered tools are making it easier and cheaper for hackers to attack systems.
Guillemet points out that tasks that once took skilled researchers months can now be done in seconds with the right prompts. This shift raises the stakes for crypto protocols, where code often controls large pools of funds.
To combat this issue, Guillemet recommends a shift towards formal verification, hardware-based security, and offline storage. He also warns that users should assume many systems will eventually fail, making cold storage and stronger operational security essential.
