Ransomware Platform AudiA6 Dismantled by Europol and US Agencies
Europol and US intelligence agencies have collaborated to take down AudiA6, a cryptocurrency service allegedly used by ransomware operators. The platform laundered nearly $389 million in funds for various groups.
The operation, which involved several countries including the US, led to the arrest of two suspects, Ruslan Tkachuk and Oleksandr Ledenyov, both citizens of Ukraine and Russia. They were detained in Georgia and will be extradited on money laundering charges.
AudiA6 was linked to 20 different ransomware groups, with 80% of illicit funds directly associated with these operators. The service also ran the Dark2Web forum, where users could commission crimes against specific targets.
