Ethereum Unveils Ambitious Roadmap for High-Speed 'Internet of Value' by 2029

The Ethereum Foundation has taken a significant step towards shaping the future of the blockchain by releasing a draft roadmap, known as the 'Strawmap'. This ambitious plan outlines the direction that Ethereum will take over the next few years, with a focus on achieving near-instant transaction finality, dramatically higher throughput, built-in privacy, and quantum-resistant cryptography.

According to the Strawmap, Ethereum's core researchers aim to make significant improvements to the network by 2029. This includes reducing the time it takes for transactions to be considered irreversible from 16 minutes to just seconds. The roadmap also highlights the importance of integrating layer 2 ecosystems with the base layer, enabling faster settlement and improving user experience.

The Strawmap reflects a shift in Ethereum's development strategy, with a focus on building a stronger base layer alongside improvements that enable higher layer 2 capacity.
