Global Police Shut Down AudiA6 Crypto Laundering Site
A global police operation has taken down AudiA6, a cryptocurrency laundering site that helped ransomware gangs clean over EUR 336 million in stolen funds. The site operated for more than three years, allowing hackers to send stolen coins to special wallets and receive new, seemingly legitimate coins within an hour.
The operators of AudiA6 charged a fee of three to ten percent per transaction and used complex chains of small transfers to conceal the origin of the money. They also ran a hidden online market called Dark2Web, where they sold hacking tools and connected buyers with other criminals from around the world.
Police in Poland began investigating AudiA6 in 2025 and arrested one person in September. The case expanded into an international effort, with officers from Georgia, France, Iceland, and the United States working together to freeze accounts and arrest suspects.
The investigation led to the discovery of thousands of fake customer records created by the group, using stolen identities and purchased personal details from the dark web. Many of these accounts belonged to Russian-speaking individuals who helped move money through legitimate cryptocurrency exchanges.
