Base and Optimism Push Native Account Abstraction onto the OP Stack

Base and Optimism are collaborating to bring native account abstraction to the OP Stack. This feature will make user accounts more flexible across OP Stack chains.

The update centers on EIP-8130, aiming to improve the crypto wallet experience by supporting features like smoother onboarding, better transaction flows, and more flexible account logic.

Developer testing is already live on Base Vibenet, with a mainnet rollout planned for the Cobalt upgrade in September 2026. This update can help remove a major barrier to widespread adoption of crypto wallets, making them feel less clunky.
