Binance Takes Legal Action Against WSJ Over Defamatory Article
Binance has taken a significant step in protecting its reputation by filing a defamation lawsuit against Dow Jones, the publisher of the Wall Street Journal (WSJ). The lawsuit, filed in New York, alleges that an article published in February contained at least 11 false statements about Binance's business practices.
The WSJ article reported that Binance had fired employees who raised concerns about cryptocurrency transactions linked to Iran-related sanctioned entities. Binance claims that this report damaged its reputation and led to users leaving the platform.
Binance has been overseen by two independent government monitors under a criminal settlement in 2023, which could become a major issue if reports from investigators were ignored or dismissals were carried out in response.
