IC3 Researchers Question Cryptography's Role in Addressing AI Issues

Researchers from the International Center for the Study of Cryptocurrency (IC3) have released a report challenging the effectiveness of cryptography in addressing core artificial intelligence (AI) problems. The report argues that claims about cryptography being able to solve AI issues such as identifying AI-generated content, eliminating algorithmic bias, and enabling full autonomy are often exaggerated.

The researchers point out that having a crypto wallet does not necessarily make an AI system smarter or more resistant to human manipulation. They also note that traditional payment systems can support some automation, making blockchain a non-universal solution for AI payments and trust mechanisms.
