Ethereum Foundation Stakes Record-Breaking 22,517 ETH in Blockchain
The Ethereum Foundation, responsible for funding protocol development and ecosystem growth on the Ethereum blockchain, has made its largest single deployment of Ethereum (ETH) by staking 22,517 tokens worth approximately $46 million.
This significant move is part of the foundation's plan to stake a total of 70,000 ETH, with staking rewards being used to fund research and ecosystem development. The Foundation holds a substantial digital assets portfolio worth over $360 million, primarily composed of ETH, BNB, Bitcoin, Arbitrum, and stablecoins.
Historically, the Ethereum Foundation relied on periodic ETH sales, which often created downward pressure on token prices and faced criticism from the community. However, this shift towards staking represents a clear change in strategy. The move comes amid rising institutional interest in staking, with liquid staking protocols holding over $58 billion in deposits as of early 2026.
