Gemini, a leading cryptocurrency exchange, is reportedly considering selling parts of its European business to potential buyers.
The company has been looking to cut costs and focus on its core operations, and this move may be part of that effort. According to sources, the buyers are interested in acquiring Gemini's regulatory infrastructure in Europe, rather than taking over the entire company.
Gemini spent years building a strong presence in European markets, including obtaining a MiCA license from Malta's financial regulator. This gave it a passport to offer services across the EU single market.
However, any buyer would still need to obtain regulatory approval before taking control of Gemini's European operations. The UK's Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and other European regulators would likely scrutinize any change in ownership.
