California Man Sentenced to Prison for Crypto Laundering Scheme
A 22-year-old California resident has been sentenced to 70 months in prison for his involvement in a cryptocurrency laundering scheme. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, the individual helped members of the group launder at least $3.5 million in stolen funds.
The group's activities resulted in the theft of approximately $263 million from victims through various methods, including social engineering scams and burglaries. Prosecutors stated that the stolen funds were used to purchase luxury items such as Lamborghinis, Rolexes, and real estate.
The individual pleaded guilty in December 2025 and will also serve three years of supervised release after his prison term. The U.S. Department of Justice noted that the group's actions demonstrated extreme greed, with members spending millions on extravagant lifestyle expenses.
