US Seizes $61M in USDT from Large-Scale Crypto Scam

The U.S. government has taken another significant step in combating cryptocurrency investment scams with the seizure of over $61 million worth of USDT linked to a large-scale 'pig butchering' scheme.

Pig butchering scammers typically build trust with victims through fake romantic relationships before pitching high-return crypto strategies and directing them to deposit funds on fraudulent trading platforms.

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of North Carolina worked closely with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) to track the funds across multiple wallets, identifying accounts that still held substantial balances. The seized funds are now subject to forfeiture.
