Crypto Clarity Act Nears Completion as White House Reaches Deal with Democrats
The Crypto Clarity Act is on track to pass before the August recess, but its fate remains uncertain. After weeks of negotiations, the White House has agreed to an ethics package sought by Democrats, removing one of the main hurdles to the bill.
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the legislation is at the 'one-yard line,' indicating that lawmakers are nearing completion. Senator Kevin Cramer echoed this view, stating that a few technical issues remain, including provisions covering securities intermediaries and decentralized networks.
Anchorage Digital CEO Nathan McCauley emphasized the importance of long-term regulatory clarity for digital assets. He noted that banks, broker-dealers, fintech firms, remittance providers, and other financial institutions are seeking clear rules before expanding crypto-related services.
