Ripple has announced a major partnership with the University of Kansas's athletic teams, known as the Jayhawks. The deal will see the XRP logo appear on the team's jerseys, marking the first-ever crypto sponsorship of a major college athletics program.
The partnership was described by Ripple as 'history on a jersey patch' and is set to start in the fall this year. According to the FAQ section shared by both parties, the XRP patch will match the overall color scheme of Kansas athletics and corresponding uniforms, which can be either Crimson, Blue, or White.
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse commented on the move, saying it was a 'rare moment where my professional and personal worlds collide.' As a native Kansan and alumnus of the University of Kansas, Garlinghouse holds a special connection to this partnership. The XRP logo will appear only on game jerseys, not on practice or sideline gear.
