US Treasury Targets Sinaloa Cartel in Crypto-Fueled Fentanyl Trafficking Crackdown
The US Treasury has taken action against individuals and entities tied to the Sinaloa Cartel, adding them to the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) sanctions list. This move is part of a larger effort to combat fentanyl trafficking and disrupt the cartel's operations.
As part of the sanctions, six Ethereum addresses connected to the individuals have also been added to the list. These addresses are linked to network head Armando de Jesus Ojeda Aviles, who allegedly facilitated the conversion of cash into cryptocurrency for transfer to the Sinaloa Cartel.
