Binance Suspends Services in Europe Amid MiCA Licensing Issues
Binance, the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume, has suspended its services in France and other European Union countries due to missing a deadline for obtaining a Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) license. The suspension, which took effect on July 1, affects approximately two million users in France who can no longer conduct spot or margin trades.
The MiCA regulation requires all cryptocurrency service providers to obtain a license from a national regulator within the EU to continue serving EU customers. Binance had been in discussions with French regulators but failed to meet the requirements by the deadline.
French users can still withdraw their assets, and the company has assured customers that their funds are secure. However, the long-term future of Binance's operations in Europe remains uncertain due to its failure to comply with EU regulations.
