Spacecoin Develops Blockchain-Enabled Satellite Constellation for Decentralized Internet
Spacecoin is a decentralized internet network being developed in low-Earth orbit using a constellation of blockchain-enabled small satellites. The project's goal is to provide a shared, interoperable layer for the orbital economy and address the bottleneck of communication between space-based data centers and terrestrial infrastructure.
The Spacecoin network has already made significant progress, launching its first satellite in December 2024 and facilitating the world's first end-to-end blockchain transaction through space in October 2025. The team has also deployed three additional satellites in November 2025, enabling testing of intersatellite links, a critical technology for direct satellite-to-satellite communication.
In addition to its technical advancements, Spacecoin is tokenizing the satellite industry by launching a digital currency called SPACE, which enables satellite operators to monetize unused capacity and participate in the network. The governance token also grants voting power to holders in protocol-related decisions and powers payments within the ecosystem.
