Ethereum Foundation Overhaul: Vitalik Buterin Seeks More Focus on Censorship-Resistance
Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, has announced significant changes to the Ethereum Foundation's (EF) goals and structure. In a recent statement, Buterin explained that the EF is shifting its focus towards activities critical to Ethereum's function as a censorship-resistant, private, and open system.
The foundation currently holds approximately 0.16% of all ETH in circulation, far below rival blockchain foundations which typically hold between 10% and 50% of their native supply. Buterin emphasized that the EF is not designed to be a permanent steward of Ethereum's development, but rather a leaner organization with a defined purpose.
As part of this overhaul, some respected contributors and teams will move outside the EF structure in order to attract external capital. Buterin also outlined specific technical goals for the foundation, including the use of artificial intelligence-assisted formal verification to make Ethereum provably bug-free within months.
