Bitcoin Volatility Soars Amid Record Outflows and Liquidations
The Bitcoin market has been experiencing heightened volatility in recent days, with significant increases in leveraged trading and a surge in open interest. The hourly charts are forming a pattern of consecutive lower highs and lows, indicating growing uncertainty among market participants.
According to data from prominent crypto analyst Ted, the eight-hour weighted average funding rate has soared to 0.0085 percent, indicating that the majority of traders are opening long, leveraged positions in anticipation of upward moves.
The Coinbase Premium Index has dropped to -0.189, reflecting intensified spot selling in US markets, while investors on overseas derivatives platforms concentrate on highly leveraged long positions. This dynamic has elevated the risk of a long squeeze, which can trigger sudden liquidations and sharp price swings.
