Binance CZ Proposes Freezing Satoshi's Bitcoin Stash Amid Quantum Threat

Binance founder Changpeng Zhao has proposed freezing up to 1 million Bitcoin linked to Satoshi Nakamoto if those coins remain unmoved after a future transition to quantum-resistant cryptography.

During an appearance on the Galaxy Brains podcast, Zhao argued that while quantum computing does not pose an insurmountable threat to Bitcoin, coordinating a network-wide migration to new technologies could be challenging.

Zhao suggested establishing a six-to-twelve month migration period after any future upgrade to quantum-resistant cryptography, giving holders time to move their coins to protected addresses before legacy addresses are retired.
