Trump Threatens Iran with Renewed Bombing over MOU Dispute
US President Donald Trump has threatened to resume military strikes against Iran if they do not comply with an ongoing memorandum of understanding. Speaking on June 17, Trump stated that 'the MOU is not final' and warned Iran to 'behave' or face renewed bombing.
The threat comes just days before negotiators from both sides are expected to meet in Switzerland around June 19. This escalation marks a new low in the ongoing conflict between the US and Iran, which began in 2026. The Strait of Hormuz is at the center of this dispute, as roughly one-fifth of the world's oil supply passes through it.
The impact on crypto markets has been significant, with Bitcoin dipping below $77K in June due to intensified geopolitical risk sentiment. US authorities have also seized approximately $1 billion in Iranian-linked crypto assets as part of sanctions enforcement, signaling a crackdown on digital currencies used to circumvent the sanctions regime.
