UK Slaps Sanctions on Crypto Exchange HTX Over Alleged Russian Ties
The UK's Financial Conduct Authority has taken action against HTX, a digital asset exchange with ties to Russia. The move is part of an ongoing effort by the UK government to curb Russian access to global markets through sanctioned entities.
HTX, formerly known as Huobi Global, has been added to the UK sanctions list due to alleged support for Russia via linked entities A7 LLC and Garantex. Both A7 LLC and Garantex have previously been sanctioned by the UK government.
The designation follows a UK government assessment that there are reasonable grounds to suspect HTX has facilitated activities benefiting Moscow's government through these linked entities. The move is part of a broader crackdown on entities believed to facilitate Russian access to global markets.
