Franklin Templeton Expands Crypto Business with Acquisition of 250 Digital
Global asset manager Franklin Templeton has announced its plans to acquire 250 Digital, a cryptocurrency investing firm spun out of Brooklyn-based VC firm CoinFund. The deal is expected to close in Q2 2026, subject to various closing conditions.
The acquisition will see the addition of $1.8 billion in assets to Franklin's digital assets business, which already manages about $1.8 billion. This move comes as part of Franklin Templeton's efforts to expand its reach among institutional investors in the crypto space.
As part of the deal, 250 Digital's team will be integrated into a new unit called Franklin Crypto, which will be led by Christopher Perkins, managing partner and president of CoinFund. Perkins stated that Franklin Crypto will help clients navigate the complex and rapidly evolving asset class of cryptocurrency.
