Ethereum Unveils Ambitious 2026 Roadmap with Scalability Upgrades
Ethereum's 2026 roadmap has been officially announced, outlining significant technical upgrades to enhance the network's scalability and security.
The Glamsterdam upgrade, scheduled for the first half of 2026, will focus on scaling Layer 1 by reorganizing transaction processing and database management. This will include up to 22 Ethereum Improvement Proposals centered on speeding up processing through parallelization and expanding capacity.
Meanwhile, the Hegotá upgrade, targeted for the second half of 2026, will unify scaling efforts for Layer 1 execution and data availability. It prioritizes native account abstraction to make smart contract wallets native and interoperable, reducing intermediaries and gas costs.
