Ripple Clears Hurdle for Regulated Crypto Payments Across Europe

Ripple has made significant progress in its European expansion efforts after receiving preliminary approval for a Crypto Asset Service Provider license from Luxembourg's Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier under the European Union's Markets in Crypto Assets regulation.

The company can now serve financial institutions, fintech companies, and corporate clients across the 30-country European Economic Area. Ripple said its payments platform has processed over $100 billion across global markets and operates in more than 60 countries worldwide.

The approval is expected to allow Ripple to offer MiCA-regulated cryptoasset services across Europe, combining cryptoasset, stablecoin, and electronic money payment services under one framework. This could provide a clearer route into compliant digital payments for banks, fintechs, and corporates.
