Visa Unveils Intelligent Commerce Connect, a Novel AI-Powered Payment Platform

Visa has entered the agentic payments space with its latest innovation: Intelligent Commerce Connect. This AI-powered commerce platform enables AI agents to browse and purchase goods and services on behalf of consumers, streamlining the shopping experience.

The platform is designed to support both Visa and non-Visa card payments, making it a versatile solution for merchants and agent builders alike. By integrating with major AI agent protocols, Intelligent Commerce Connect provides a seamless payment experience that handles payment initiation, tokenization, spend controls, authentication, and PCI compliance through a single API.

As part of its pilot phase, select partners are currently testing the platform, with plans for a broader rollout in 2026. This move marks another step in Visa's push into agentic commerce, following the launch of its experimental tool, Visa CLI, which allows AI agents to make same-day payments.

The rise of agentic payments has attracted competition from crypto networks and fintech firms, each vying for a share of the market.
