Revolut, a UK-headquartered digital banking platform, plans to delist Tether's USDt (USDT) stablecoin from its services. According to an email sent to users, USDT purchases will be blocked starting July 6, 2026. By August 31 of the same year, Revolut will have fully removed USDT support.
The company cited 'regulatory and risk considerations' as the reason for this decision, without specifying which regulations are behind it. Users who still hold USDT at the end of August will be automatically converted into their base currency using that day's exchange rate.
Revolut received a Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) license as a crypto asset service provider (CASP) in November 2025, issued by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission. This move follows a broader European trend of exchanges and crypto platforms reducing or removing USDT access due to MiCA compliance expectations.
Tether has refused to comply with MiCA, which has led to CASPs gradually delisting USDT across Europe since late 2024. The issuer has publicly criticized the EU rules, arguing that they are poorly designed.
