RWA Perpetuals' Explosive Growth May Be Short-Lived Amid Regulatory Concerns

RWA perpetuals have been gaining traction in the DeFi market, with trading volume reaching $524.8 billion in Q1 2026, surpassing the total volume for all of 2025.

The growth is attributed to the ability of RWA perps to offer continuous exposure to stocks like Tesla and Apple through synthetic models implemented by platforms such as Hyperliquid and Ostium.

However, despite their technical advantages, RWA perps face significant challenges in achieving maturity. Liquidity remains a structural problem, with spreads widening during high volatility periods and dynamic funding mechanisms becoming inefficient.
