Cardano Governance Crisis Threatens Blockchain's Scientific Identity
Cardano's recent milestone of surpassing 121 million transactions has been overshadowed by a governance crisis. An 81% active stake majority is opposing a $32.9 million proposal to fund Input Output Global's (IOG) core research team for another year, raising concerns about the blockchain's scientific identity.
The opposition, led primarily by Japanese delegated representatives, argues that the proposal lacks tight, auditable milestones and calls for competitive open RFP bids rather than automatic IOG budget renewal. This move has sparked a debate on the balance between institutional efficiency and community accountability in Cardano's Voltaire governance era.
