Crypto Enters Mainstream Investing as Investors Seek Diversification

Crypto's shift from niche to mainstream investing is being driven by the growing acceptance and adoption of digital assets in traditional financial markets. According to Charles Schwab's 2025 Modern Wealth Survey, nearly half of American investors have previously owned or currently own some form of cryptocurrency.

The survey also found that many investors view digital assets as a way to diversify their portfolios, with strong long-term growth potential and the ability to reduce investment risk being top reasons for investing in crypto. This shift in perception is reflected in the increasing institutional backing of crypto exchange-traded products (ETPs), which are now offered by major brokerages and asset managers.

As more investors explore alternative investments like crypto, education and support are becoming essential to empower smarter investing. Charles Schwab plans to launch its own spot crypto product later this year, and Joe Vietri, the company's head of digital assets, emphasizes the importance of providing world-class support and education to clients.
