Hostplus Pension Fund Considers Cryptocurrency Investment Option
Hostplus Pension Fund, one of Australia's largest pension funds, is exploring the possibility of offering a cryptocurrency investment option for its members. The fund manages over $105 billion in assets and has been considering adding this feature through its Choiceplus platform.
The move follows growing demand from members who have requested to be given the option to invest in cryptocurrency. According to Hostplus Chief Investment Officer Sam Sicilia, only about 1% of the fund's total assets are invested in Choiceplus.
Sicilia noted that the company is still in the design phase and would need to address a range of issues related to consumer protections before offering digital assets. He also emphasized that any plan to offer cryptocurrency would require regulatory approval.
