Coinbase Unveils Stock Perpetual Futures for Global Traders

Coinbase has made a significant move in the financial markets by launching stock perpetual futures covering all seven Magnificent 7 tech giants: Apple, Microsoft, Alphabet, Amazon, Nvidia, Meta Platforms, and Tesla. These contracts are available to eligible non-U.S. users through Coinbase Advanced, the company's professional trading platform.

The new products offer up to 10x leverage for single-stock perpetuals and up to 20x for ETF perpetuals. All contracts are settled in USDC and support continuous trading, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Positions can be managed through unified margin alongside existing crypto perpetual and spot holdings.

This expansion is part of Coinbase's strategy to become an 'everything exchange,' offering multiple asset classes under one account. The company has been rapidly expanding its derivatives infrastructure over the past year, including launching CFTC-regulated perpetual-style futures for U.S. traders and introducing Mag7 + Crypto Equity Index Futures.

Coinbase's approach to equity-linked derivatives is to offer a regulated structure with licenses across multiple jurisdictions. However, the offering faces scrutiny from regulatory bodies, such as the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), which has issued guidance on perpetual futures offerings that may fall within existing regulations governing contracts for difference (CFDs).
