DeFi Protocols Defy Conventional Wisdom with Ongoing Development

DeFi protocols are often seen as mature infrastructure, but new data suggests that seven previously written-off projects are still actively building. According to Santiment's development activity ranking, ChainLink is leading the way with a score of 211.53, more than double the second-place DeepBook at 104.23.

The gap between ChainLink and the rest of the list is significant, suggesting that it is operating on a fundamentally different development timeline. The Santiment methodology counts events rather than commits to prevent fork inflation, which means that ChainLink's score represents original development events, not inherited code.

Seven of the top 10 projects show rising development activity since last month, indicating that these protocols are building into the recovery. This is a counter-narrative to the dominant narrative around established DeFi protocols, which are often seen as mature and in maintenance mode.
